Here in Colorado, tucked up in the mountains just a few miles from our location in Colorado Springs, is the breathtaking Garden of the Gods. If you haven’t heard of this fantastic landmark, then here’s one more item for your bucket list. Filled with dramatic geological features and some of the most dramatic landscapes to be found anywhere in the U.S. the Garden of the Gods is our own little natural treasure, and we want to share it with you!
Camping
When you come to visit the Garden of the Gods, you can park your RV at the Garden of the Gods RV resort, which is located on the site of Old Colorado City and Manitou springs. Nestled in the foothills of America’s most visited mountain, Pike’s Peak, you’ll be just minutes away from tons of great attractions here in central Colorado. The Garden of the Gods RV Resort offers a full selection of RV sites with rates varying by location and season (Summer seasonal rates apply from May 1, through September 30). All sites include full hookup with water, sewer, wi-fi and electric hookup (all sites are 30 amp, while some feature 30/50 amp). Pets are allowed, and reservations are required.
Activities
The Garden of the Gods is a beautiful slice of Colorado wilderness, and provides a huge range of activities for adventurers of all stripes! If you’re interested in getting your hands dirty so you can see a view that few have the opportunity to enjoy, check out one of the rock climbing adventures available from the front range climbing company. If you’re more of a sit back and enjoy the scenery type, then there are tons of great tours that will help you explore some of the unique sites to be found in the Garden of the Gods, including the classic 1909 Bus Tour ($17.00) an exciting Jeep Tour ($25.00 – $50.00) and the unique and relaxing Segway tours ($75.00 – $100.00). No matter which way you choose to explore you’ll see tons of Colorado’s natural beauty in the form of wild flora and fauna, and the soaring rock formations of the Garden of the Gods.
Educational Opportunities
The Garden of the Gods is a unique learning opportunity for kids and adults alike! Check out the free interpretive center to learn more about the formation of this natural wonder, as well as the history of the people who have admired these formations for centuries. If you want to get out and stretch your legs check out one of the free guided or self guided hiking trails, and allow yourself to soak in the scenery as you explore the sweeping landscape. The visitors center is always showcasing new exhibits and features, so check in regularly and see what’s going to be waiting for you when you visit Colorado Springs and the Garden of the Gods!
