If there’s one thing that Colorado is known for, it’s the expanse of outdoor adventure and pristine landscapes that are all over the state. This is why so many people travel from all across the country to spend days or weeks at one of our many RV campgrounds and you shouldn’t have to miss out. Trailer Source has provided some of our favorite spots but we also want to hear all about some of your favorite campgrounds. Stop by one of our many dealerships to talk to our friendly staff and swap RV stories. We proudly serve Denver, Colorado Springs, Erie, Lakewood, and Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
Pagosa Springs RV Park
We start just ten miles south of Pagosa Springs at Pagosa Springs RV Park. It’s located in the heart of some of the most beautiful Colorado scenery our state has to offer, cozily situated at the base of converging mountains. The parks itself comes with a number of great amenities, from complete RV hookups to luxury cabins and ATV rentals. The grounds are clean and carefully manicured so you’ll feel perfectly at home while in the heart of the Wild West. They also offer dog kennels, a pizza cooker at the guest-friendly BBQ bar, movie night, and cozy and quaint shower houses. As an added bonus, if you stay at this campground for two or more nights, you can get a free tub of ice cream and a complimentary bottle of wine.
And since you’ll be so close, we recommend checking out Pagosa Springs while you’re there. Here, you can enjoy a wide range of on-water activities, including boating, fishing, hot springs, rafting, and tubing. When you want to stay dry, consider off-roading with your favorite powersport vehicle, golfing, horseback riding, hiking, biking, and even hot air ballooning. If you want to drive a little farther, you can check out a number of other great attractions, including snow activities on the mountains, the infamous Chimney Rock National Monument, and the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park.
Baby Doe Campground
Now it’s time to travel north to Turquoise Lake where close to the shore sits Baby Doe Campground. This campground takes its name from Elizabeth McCourt, who first moved west in the 19th century and joined the other miners in search of riches. They called her Baby Doe.
The campground offers a number of great amenities including single-family sites with a picnic table and campfire ring and grill. You’ll also be situated just a jump, hop, and a skip away from the lake where you can enjoy all your favorite on-water activities like fishing and boating and water sports. You’ll be dry camping, so make sure you and your RV are prepared, but for some people, this is the only type of camping worth experiencing.
You’ll be smack dab in the middle of the Mount Massive Wilderness Area and near the state’s second highest peak. This means lots of permanent snowfields, hiking opportunities, and general outdoor adventure. You can also check out Independence Pass for a scenic drive, and to see where the Rockies National Scenic and HIstoric Byway crosses the Continental Divide.
Lake Irwin Campground
And finally, travel a little farther north to reach Lake Irwin Campground, situated right up against, you guessed it, Lake Irwin. This means you’ll still have access to all your favorite on-water activities. You’ll be able to enjoy an unobstructed view of the landscape, including the surrounding Ruby Mountain Range, as well as the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests.
When you’d like a break from outdoor activities, travel into the local town of Crested Butte, a thriving community that’s filled with delectable eats, locally owned boutiques, culture, and fun nightlife on top of all the great winter activities that come with living in and around Colorado’s iconic mountain ranges. You’ll find something exciting to do whether you’re traveling with your family, your friends, or just as a couples’ getaway.
These aren’t the only places you’ll be able to experience the best of Colorado, and we’d love to hear more about some of your favorite campgrounds. Stop by Trailer Source to chat with one of our friendly staff or to check out some of the RVs we have available right now, including a wide range of travel trailers. We welcome all current and future RV owners from Denver, Colorado Springs, Erie, Lakewood, and Wheat Ridge, CO.
